Sufi Council Chief Backs PM Modi’s Statement on Waqf Amendment Act

Supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on the Waqf Amendment Act, Syed Naseruddin Chishty, Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, said the Prime Minister’s intent is “very clear” and focused on the welfare of the Muslim community, especially the poor.

Speaking in Ajmer, Chishty said, “What PM Modi said yesterday made his intent very clear. He had said that the Waqf Act is being amended so that there is proper utilisation of Waqf management, its properties, its funds, and for the upliftment of poor Muslims. That is what the PM said, and it is absolutely correct. I agree with him.”

He further added, “The government’s intent is very clear… I too am very hopeful that with the new Act, the Waqf Fund will be properly utilised and for the welfare of society.”

Chishty’s endorsement of the Prime Minister’s stance comes at a crucial time, as debates and protests continue over the amendments to the Waqf Act. His remarks are seen as a call for trust in constitutional processes and a reassurance to the community about the government’s approach toward Waqf affairs.
