Jaipur, Rajasthan — Marking the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda paid rich tributes to the legendary queen, praising her visionary leadership and contributions to the nation’s progress.
“She believed that progress in trade would lead to the progress of the state. She did everything to bring the country forward,” Nadda said during a commemorative event in Jaipur.
In a veiled attack on previous regimes and historians, Nadda questioned why her legacy was neglected for so long. “But who tried to hide her in the pages of history? Those who did that — history has now hidden them,” he remarked.
Ahilyabai Holkar, the 18th-century Maratha queen of the Malwa kingdom, is celebrated for her administrative acumen, architectural patronage, and inclusive governance. Nadda’s remarks aimed to reclaim her role as a national icon, emphasizing the BJP’s focus on reviving neglected figures from India’s rich heritage.
