Jaipur, Rajasthan | Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Wednesday flagged off the ‘Yamuna Pravah Unity March’ in Jaipur to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and a key architect of national integration. The march is part of a nationwide series of unity events honouring the Iron Man of India.
Speaking at the event, CM Sharma highlighted Sardar Patel’s remarkable role in unifying more than 560 princely states into a single sovereign nation. “With his determination and strong will, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel unified India into one nation,” he said. “A man of such stature, who contributed immensely to India’s freedom, was forgotten by past governments. Under the leadership of PM Modi, we are remembering him today.”
The Chief Minister noted that unity marches being organised across the country serve a deeper purpose beyond ceremonial commemoration. “These are not just marches, but also an opportunity for the youth to learn about his life, teachings, and to take valuable lessons from them,” he added.
The ‘Yamuna Pravah Unity March’ witnessed participation from students, youth groups, cultural organisations and public representatives. Various programmes, including patriotic performances and exhibitions on Sardar Patel’s life, were held to connect the younger generation with his legacy.
CM Sharma emphasised that Patel’s vision of a united, strong and harmonious India continues to guide the nation’s development trajectory. He urged participants to carry forward the spirit of unity, national pride and public service exemplified by Sardar Patel.
The event concluded with a renewed call to the youth to uphold the ideals of national integration and contribute actively to nation-building.
