India to Become Self-Reliant in Defence, Among Top 3 Economies by 2030: Rajnath Singh

Udaipur, Rajasthan: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday highlighted India’s rapid progress in defence manufacturing and economic growth, expressing confidence that the country will achieve full self-reliance in weapons in the coming decades.

Speaking at an event in Udaipur, Singh said that a large number of startups are making significant contributions to the defence sector. “Many startups are doing remarkable work in the defence sector,” he said, underlining the role of innovation and indigenous technology in strengthening India’s defence capabilities.

The Defence Minister asserted that India is on a clear path towards Aatmanirbharta in defence production. “Within the next 15–20 years, India will become completely self-reliant in terms of weapons,” Singh stated, adding that the government is actively promoting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.

Rajnath Singh also spoke about India’s broader economic trajectory, expressing optimism about the country’s global standing. “By 2030, India will be among the top three economies in the world,” he said.

His remarks reflect the government’s emphasis on combining economic growth with strategic self-reliance, positioning India as a major global power driven by innovation, manufacturing, and a strong startup ecosystem.
