Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur railway line to be doubled by 2027, PM Modi and Railway Minister lauded.

The Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur railway line, which connects the capital city of Rajasthan with the famous wildlife destination of Ranthambhore, will be doubled by the financial year 2026-27, as per the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

The project, which will cost Rs 1268.57 crore, will cover a distance of 152.77 km and will enhance the line capacity, speed, and safety of the trains plying on this route. It will also improve the connectivity to various educational, religious, and forest areas along the line, such as Chauth Ka Barwada and Shivad. The doubling of the line will boost tourism, religious and educational activities in the region, as well as create employment opportunities for the local people.

Jaipur City MP Ramcharan Bohra, who had been demanding the doubling of the Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur railway line for a long time, met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Railway Minister for approving the project. He said that the project was a long-pending demand of the people of Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur, and that it would benefit both the passengers and the freight traffic. He also requested the Railway Minister to upgrade the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dadi ka gate and construct a new RUB at Nadi ka gate, which are located in his parliamentary constituency.

The Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur railway line is one of the six multi-tracking projects approved by the CCEA on Thursday, which will add 1020 km to the existing network of Indian Railways. The other projects are Ajmer-Chanderiya, Luni-Samdari-Bhildi, Agthori-Kamakhya, Lumding-Furkating, and Motumari-Vishnupuram and Rail over Rail at Motumari. These projects are fully funded by the Central Government and align with the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity and the Prime Minister’s vision for a ‘New India’.
