Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the National Wrestling Championship in Kota, Rajasthan, emphasizing the role of sports in shaping a disciplined and patriotic youth.
Addressing the gathering, Birla said, “India has been winning medals internationally and I hope it wins more because the game and the athlete are disciplined, patriotic.” He added that the youth of India are increasingly turning towards sports, and such events provide the right platform to nurture their talent.
“In the coming times, the youth will take inspiration from Kota and participate in various kinds of sports,” he said, expressing hope that Kota — known as an education hub — would also emerge as a center for sporting excellence.
The event witnessed the participation of wrestlers from across the country and was marked by a strong display of enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
