PM Modi Addresses Rajya Sabha: Progress and Challenges in Manipur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a comprehensive update on the situation in Manipur during his address in the Rajya Sabha today, highlighting the government’s efforts to restore stability and promote development in the northeastern state amidst ongoing challenges.

PM Modi began by affirming the government’s commitment to normalizing the situation in Manipur, noting a significant decrease in incidents of violence. “We are working tirelessly to restore peace and stability in Manipur,” he assured, attributing the positive trend to collaborative efforts between the Central and State governments.

Updating the Rajya Sabha on recent developments, PM Modi disclosed that over 11,000 FIRs have been registered and more than 500 individuals have been arrested in connection with recent disturbances in Manipur. These measures, he emphasized, are critical in upholding law and order and ensuring the safety of all residents.

In response to natural disasters affecting Manipur, PM Modi reiterated the Central government’s commitment to providing necessary assistance. “We are actively supporting Manipur in managing the flood situation,” he announced, highlighting the deployment of two NDRF teams to aid in relief and rescue operations.

PM Modi acknowledged the Union Home Minister’s prolonged presence in Manipur to oversee relief efforts firsthand, underscoring the government’s proactive approach in addressing immediate challenges and promoting sustainable development in the region.

Reflecting on historical governance, PM Modi criticized the frequent imposition of President’s rule by the Congress party in Manipur, highlighting its adverse impact on democratic governance. He contrasted this with the current administration’s focus on empowering local governance and fostering inclusive growth for the benefit of Manipur’s residents.

Concluding his address, PM Modi expressed confidence in the resilience and determination of the people of Manipur to overcome challenges and achieve prosperity under the government’s leadership. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to comprehensive development and welfare across the state.

PM Modi’s address in the Rajya Sabha underscores the government’s proactive measures, challenges faced, and ongoing commitment to fostering peace, stability, and sustainable development in Manipur. As the situation continues to evolve, the government remains steadfast in its efforts to address immediate needs and advance long-term progress in the region.
