Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a public rally here, criticized the Congress party for its proposed Inheritance Tax, calling it a revelation of their “hidden agenda”.
The Prime Minister stated, “Congress has now made another revelation. Their hidden agenda has come out. Congress says that it will impose an Inheritance Tax…Congress says it will also impose a tax on the Inheritance received from parents.”
He further added that the proposed tax would take away almost half of the property that individuals have accumulated through their hard work and intend to pass on to their children. He accused the Congress of being unaware of India’s family values and of planning to loot the wealth of individuals both during and after their lifetime.
“The mantra of Congress is ‘Congress ki loot, zindage ke sath bhi loot aur zindagi ke baad bhi loot…’”, the Prime Minister said, expressing his disapproval of the proposed tax.
The proposed Inheritance Tax has been a subject of heated debate, with critics arguing that it goes against the traditional Indian practice of passing on wealth to the next generation. Supporters, on the other hand, argue that it could help reduce wealth inequality in the country.
The Prime Minister’s comments come at a time when the country is gearing up for the upcoming elections, with economic policies being a major point of contention between the ruling party and the opposition.
As the political landscape heats up, the proposed Inheritance Tax is expected to be a significant talking point in the days to come.
