Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a slew of development projects worth over Rs 17,000 crore in Rajasthan, covering various sectors such as roads, railways, solar energy, power transmission, drinking water and petroleum and natural gas.
Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Rajasthan’ program via video conferencing, PM Modi said that the projects will boost the infrastructure, connectivity, energy security and quality of life of the people of Rajasthan.
He also praised the state government for its efficient use of technology to bring together all the beneficiaries of the projects under one platform.
PM Modi said that Rajasthan has a key role in building a developed India, and that the state has shown its potential in various fields such as tourism, culture, heritage, defence, renewable energy and agriculture.
He said that the state has also made remarkable progress in the social sector, especially in empowering women, youth, farmers and the poor.
He cited the example of the state government’s scheme to provide gas cylinders to poor families at Rs 450, which has benefitted lakhs of women from Rajasthan.
He also mentioned the increase in the financial assistance of Rs 2,000 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi for the farmers of Rajasthan, and the acceleration of work under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide piped water to every household.
PM Modi said that his government is fulfilling its promises one by one in every field, and that it is serious about its guarantees.
“That’s why people say – Modi’s guarantee means a guarantee of fulfilment”, he said.
He also recalled his visit to the state during the Vidhan Sabha elections in 2019, and thanked the people for their blessings and support.
He said that the people of Rajasthan have shown their faith in the ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’, which has led to the formation of a double-engine government in the state.
He also highlighted the qualities of the people of Rajasthan, and said that they have impressed the world with their hospitality, courage and resilience.
He referred to the recent visit of French President Emanuel Macron to Rajasthan, and said that his reception in the state was appreciated not only in India but also in France.
He said that the people of Rajasthan have a global outlook, and that they are contributing to the nation’s progress and prestige.
The Prime Minister inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of various projects in the program.
These include:
- Various National Highway projects worth more than Rs 5,000 crore, covering a total length of 873 km in 14 districts of Rajasthan.
- Eight important railway projects worth around Rs 2,300 crore, including the inauguration of the newly constructed Khatipura railway station in Jaipur, and the laying of foundation stone for the electrification of Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur and Ajmer-Pushkar rail lines.
- Important solar projects worth around Rs 5,300 crore, including the inauguration of the world’s largest solar park of 2,255 MW capacity at Bhadla in Jodhpur district, and the laying of foundation stone for the 750 MW solar park at Pokhran in Jaisalmer district.
- Power transmission sector projects worth more than Rs 2,100 crore, including the inauguration of the 765 kV GSS at Bhadla, and the laying of foundation stone for the 400 kV GSS at Pokhran.
- Multiple projects worth around Rs 2,400 crore, including the projects under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide piped water supply to 21 lakh people in 13 districts of Rajasthan.
- Indian Oil’s LPG bottling plant at Jodhpur, with a capacity of 60 TMTPA, which will cater to the LPG demand of 12 districts of Rajasthan.
The Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Kalraj Mishra, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, other Ministers of the Rajasthan Government, MPs, MLAs and local-level representatives among others joined the program.
