Meerut, Uttar Pradesh – Prime Minister Narendra Modi kick-started the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh from Meerut on Sunday. Addressing a massive rally in Meerut, PM Modi advocated for a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
It is noteworthy that PM Modi had initiated his election campaigns for the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Meerut, underscoring the city’s symbolic significance in his political journey. This time, the rally was highly anticipated, with political alliances converging in the heart of Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
As per reports, BJP candidate Arun Govil of TV serial ‘Ramayan’ fame and Rashtriya Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, who recently joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, were expected to be present with the PM. The General Elections are set to be held in seven phases between April 19 and June 1.
The rally marked the beginning of a series of campaigns, with various political parties having started their poll campaigns to woo the voters. With the world’s largest democratic exercise underway, several candidates have also filed their nominations.
