Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a spectacular celebration of the 10th International Day of Yoga at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. The annual event, observed on June 21st, aims to enhance physical and mental well-being through the ancient practice of yoga.
At the break of dawn, PM Modi participated in a yoga session alongside thousands of participants, wearing a traditional Assamese Gamosa. This white and red cloth, rich with cultural significance, symbolizes hospitality, respect, and unity—values that resonate deeply with the essence of yoga, which transcends regional and cultural boundaries.
Set against the awe-inspiring Himalayan peaks, the participants performed asanas (yoga postures) with synchronized grace. The rhythmic flow of movements and breaths mirrored the gentle waves of Dal Lake, creating a tranquil atmosphere that fostered a profound sense of inner peace.
While PM Modi led the session in Srinagar, millions of yoga enthusiasts from across the globe joined virtually. From bustling cities like New York and Tokyo to serene locales, people practiced yoga together, highlighting the universal appeal and unifying power of this ancient discipline.
In his address, PM Modi emphasized the comprehensive benefits of yoga, saying, “Yoga is not just about physical fitness. It is a pathway to mental well-being, stress reduction, and spiritual growth.” He urged everyone to integrate yoga into their daily routines to reap its numerous health benefits.
As the sun climbed higher, participants collectively performed the Namaste gesture, symbolizing respect and unity. PM Modi highlighted that yoga teaches resilience, balance, and harmony—essential qualities in today’s challenging world. “Yoga is our anchor in turbulent times,” he remarked.
The event concluded with a collective meditation session, offering a serene moment of reflection amid the breathtaking Himalayan landscape. As participants closed their eyes, the core message resonated: yoga brings strength, peace, and a sense of shared purpose.
The 10th International Day of Yoga not only showcased the enduring relevance of yoga but also emphasized its role in fostering global unity and resilience. PM Modi’s leadership and vision inspired millions, reaffirming yoga’s significance in promoting health, harmony, and well-being worldwide.
