Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a significant diplomatic mission to Russia and Austria, aiming to bolster India’s relations with these key European nations. In his departure statement, PM Modi expressed optimism about enhancing ties with countries that share longstanding friendships with India.
“Over the next three days, I will be in Russia and Austria. These visits will be a wonderful opportunity to deepen ties with these nations, with whom India has time-tested friendship,” PM Modi stated, highlighting the historical and strategic importance of these bilateral relationships.
PM Modi emphasized his anticipation of engaging with the Indian diaspora in both countries, underscoring their role as cultural ambassadors and contributors to bilateral relations. “I also look forward to interacting with the Indian community living in these countries,” he remarked.
In Russia, PM Modi intends to hold discussions with President Vladimir Putin, focusing on various aspects of bilateral cooperation and exchanging perspectives on regional and global issues. “I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues. We seek to play a supportive role for a peaceful and stable region,” PM Modi articulated.
Highlighting the robust nature of India-Russia relations under the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, PM Modi noted advancements made over the past decade across sectors such as energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Following his visit to Russia, PM Modi will travel to Austria, marking the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the nation in 40 years. “In Austria, I will have the opportunity to meet President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Austria is our steadfast and reliable partner, and we share the ideals of democracy and pluralism,” PM Modi affirmed.
