The central government’s flagship housing scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PM-Awas), has achieved a significant milestone. As of March 18, approximately 3.36 crore houses have been constructed and handed over to beneficiaries across rural and urban areas.
The PM-Awas scheme, which aims to provide “Housing for All”, has seen a substantial number of housing units spring up across the country. Official data reveals that 2.55 crore houses have been built in rural areas, while urban areas account for 81.55 lakh units.
The scheme, launched with the vision of providing affordable housing to the economically weaker sections of society, has made significant strides towards its goal. The houses, built with an emphasis on sustainability and affordability, have been handed over to the beneficiaries, marking a major step in the government’s efforts to enhance living standards and promote inclusive growth.
The success of the PM-Awas scheme is a testament to the government’s commitment to social welfare and its efforts to ensure that every citizen has a roof over their head. As the scheme continues to progress, it is expected to bring about a significant change in the housing sector and contribute to the nation’s socio-economic development.
The government remains committed to the PM-Awas scheme and aims to continue its efforts to provide affordable housing to all, thereby transforming the landscape of the country and empowering its citizens.
