Prime Minister Narendra Modi today formally introduced members of the newly constituted Council of Ministers in the Lok Sabha, marking a significant moment in the parliamentary proceedings. Following the election of Om Birla as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Modi presented Union Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State (Independent Charges), and Ministers of State to the Lower House.

Later in the session, Speaker Om Birla addressed the House on the solemn occasion of the 50th anniversary of the imposition of Emergency on 25th June 1975. Expressing poignant reflections, Mr. Birla condemned the Emergency as a grave assault on India’s democratic fabric and fundamental rights. He commended the unwavering determination of individuals who resisted the Emergency’s draconian measures, safeguarding democratic values and upholding the spirit of the Constitution crafted by Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
