Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Railways, has vowed to conduct a thorough investigation into the Kanchenjunga Express train derailment in Darjeeling district, ensuring transparency and accountability as authorities work to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
Arriving promptly at the accident site accompanied by senior railway officials and safety experts, Minister Vaishnaw inspected the damaged train cars and surveyed the affected section of the railway track. He expressed deep concern for the well-being of passengers and reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing railway safety.
“The derailment of the Kanchenjunga Express is a tragic event, and our thoughts are with the passengers and their families. We will leave no stone unturned in uncovering the reasons behind this incident,” stated Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during his site visit.
The derailment resulted in injuries to multiple passengers, who were promptly transported to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Minister Vaishnaw visited the hospital to meet with the injured and their families, assuring them of the government’s full support and assistance in their recovery.
“We are focused on providing the best medical care to the injured and restoring normalcy in railway operations. Simultaneously, we are initiating measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future,” affirmed Minister Vaishnaw.
In response to the incident, Minister Vaishnaw announced immediate steps to enhance railway safety measures, including the deployment of additional inspectors, advanced monitoring systems, and enhanced training programs for railway personnel.
