JAIPUR – In a recent statement, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari criticized the Congress party for its poverty alleviation efforts, or lack thereof, during its tenure.
“Congress kept the country poor; they talked about ‘Garibi Hatao’ however, poverty only transcended during their tenure,” Kumari said. The phrase ‘Garibi Hatao’, meaning ‘remove poverty’, was a popular slogan of the Congress party during the 1971 general elections.
Kumari’s comments come amidst ongoing political debates on the effectiveness of various poverty alleviation programs implemented by different political parties over the years. Critics argue that despite numerous initiatives, the issue of poverty remains a significant challenge in India.
The Congress party has yet to respond to Kumari’s comments. As the political discourse continues, the citizens of India await effective solutions to the enduring problem of poverty.
