The Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has recently announced a number of new schemes and initiatives to boost the development and welfare of the state. The government has also claimed to have fulfilled several promises made in its manifesto, under the banner of Suraj Samkalp ki Siddhi.
new schemes launched by the government are:
Rajasthan Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana: This scheme aims to provide income support to the farmers of the state, in addition to the central government’s PM-KISAN scheme. Under this scheme, the farmers will receive an additional Rs. 4,000 per year, in two installments of Rs. 2,000 each, directly into their bank accounts. The scheme will benefit about 75 lakh farmers in the state.
Lakhpati Didi Scheme: This scheme is designed to empower the women self-help groups (SHGs) in the state, by providing them with financial assistance, skill development, and market linkages. The scheme will enable the SHGs to increase their income and become self-reliant. The scheme will also promote the production and sale of local products, such as handicrafts, textiles, food items, etc. The scheme will cover about 10 lakh women in the state.
Free Scooty Scheme: This scheme is aimed at encouraging the girl students to pursue higher education, by providing them with free scooters. The scheme will be applicable to the girl students who have passed the 12th standard examination with 75% or more marks, and are enrolled in a college or university. The scheme will also help the girl students to overcome the transportation barriers and reach their educational institutions safely and conveniently. The scheme will benefit about 50,000 girl students in the state.
LADO Incentive Scheme: This scheme is intended to prevent child marriages and promote the education of girls in the state. Under this scheme, the girl child will receive Rs. 2,000 on her birth, Rs. 5,000 on completion of 5th standard, Rs. 11,000 on completion of 8th standard, Rs. 25,000 on completion of 10th standard, and Rs. 45,000 on completion of 12th standard. The scheme will also provide Rs. 55,000 to the girl child if she remains unmarried till the age of 21 years. The scheme will cover about 15 lakh girl children in the state.
Rajasthan PM Ujjwala Scheme: This scheme is a state-specific extension of the central government’s PM Ujjwala Yojana, which provides free LPG connections to the poor households. Under this scheme, the state government will provide LPG cylinders at a subsidized rate of Rs. 450 to the women beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Yojana, who belong to the economically weaker sections of the society. The scheme will also provide 12 cylinders per year to each beneficiary household, to meet their cooking needs. The scheme will grant relief to about 73 lakh households in the state.
Apart from these new schemes, the government has also claimed to have achieved notable results in the implementation of its existing schemes, such as:
Shri Annapurna Rasoi Program: This program provides subsidized meals to the poor and needy people in the state, at various locations such as hospitals, bus stands, railway stations, etc. The program has been expanded to cover more districts and beneficiaries, and the quality and quantity of the meals have been improved. The financial assistance for each plate has been increased from Rs. 17 to Rs. 22, and the menu has been diversified to include more nutritious items. The program serves about 1.5 lakh people per day in the state.
Chief Minister Housing Scheme: This scheme aims to provide affordable and quality housing to the urban and rural poor in the state, by constructing pucca houses with basic amenities. The scheme has been accelerated to meet the target of constructing 17 lakh houses by 2024, of which 10 lakh houses have already been completed and allotted to the beneficiaries. The scheme also provides financial assistance of Rs. 1.2 lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakh per house, depending on the location and category of the beneficiary.
Employment Opportunities: The government has also announced that it will create 2.5 lakh new jobs in the state, in various sectors and departments, in the next five years. The government has said that it will fill up the existing vacancies and create new posts, to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state. The government has also said that it will provide skill development and training to the youth, to make them employable and self-reliant.
