In an unprecedented move, the Rajasthan government has decided to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology (IT) to monitor the quality and distribution of the mid-day meal scheme in real-time. This decision comes in light of the state government’s serious concerns about irregularities and quality issues in the mid-day meal scheme in government schools.
The state government has decided to use AI and IT as part of a 100-day action plan, which was recently discussed in a review meeting. It is reported that an app will be used to check the quality and distribution system of the mid-day meal in schools in real-time.
To improve the quality of the mid-day meal, training was also organized for cook-cum-helpers who prepare the meal on Tuesday. The two-hour training was conducted online through the PEO office and ICT lab. It was organized by the World Food Program and the Institute of Hotel Management, Jaipur. The cook-cum-helpers were given information about kitchen management and hygiene, along with how to prepare nutritious meals.
This initiative is expected to significantly improve the quality of mid-day meals and ensure that students in government schools receive nutritious and hygienic food. The use of AI and IT in monitoring the scheme also marks a significant step towards digitization and the use of advanced technology in the education sector.
