Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Director General of Police (DGP), Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, has announced the readiness of the Rajasthan Police to implement three new criminal laws, replacing archaic British-era statutes. The DGP emphasized the significance of these legislative reforms and outlined the preparedness of the police force to uphold justice effectively across the state.

Speaking on the introduction of the new criminal laws, DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo stated, “Three British-era laws have been replaced with modern statutes designed to deliver justice rather than merely impose punishment. Rajasthan Police has conducted comprehensive training sessions at all levels to equip its personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills.”

The DGP highlighted the proactive measures taken by Rajasthan Police to ensure seamless implementation of the new laws. “We have organized timely workshops and training programs to familiarize our officers with the intricacies of the new legal framework. This preparation underscores our commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens,” he added.

The new criminal laws aim to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the justice system in Rajasthan, reflecting a shift towards a more equitable and rights-based approach. DGP Sahoo emphasized that these laws will contribute significantly to improving public safety and maintaining law and order in the state.

“The British-era laws were rooted in punitive measures, whereas the new laws prioritize justice delivery and protection of individual rights,” DGP Sahoo explained. He assured the public that Rajasthan Police is fully capable of enforcing these laws while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

As Rajasthan prepares to implement these reforms, stakeholders anticipate a positive impact on the state’s legal landscape, fostering transparency, accountability, and public trust in the judicial process. The transition from outdated laws to modern statutes signifies Rajasthan’s commitment to progressive legal reforms aimed at meeting contemporary societal needs.

The announcement by DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo marks a pivotal moment in Rajasthan’s legal history, heralding a new era of justice administration aligned with constitutional principles and democratic values.
