Students excelling in state government schools will soon receive their long-awaited tablets, as supplies are expected to arrive within the next one or two days. The Delhi-based firm received its work order on July 8, 2024, and the education department has completed all necessary preparations for distribution.
Following the lifting of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, the process for purchasing tablets accelerated. A total of 55,727 talented students across the state are set to benefit from this initiative. The scheme will cover students from the academic sessions of 2021-22 and 2022-23.
In the districts of Sri Ganganagar and Anupgarh, 1,717 students across all classes are eligible to receive tablets. Ved Pahwa, the Administrative Officer in charge of the Educational Cell at the DEO Secondary Office, reported that, according to department guidelines, lists of selected meritorious students from Sri Ganganagar and Anupgarh have been shared with the respective CBEOs (Chief Block Education Officers). The CBEOs have been instructed to verify eligible students and prepare the necessary documentation for the distribution.
Additionally, selected students will also receive three years of free internet access. Data on the service providers for this free internet service has been compiled through the Shala Darpan platform, ensuring that students have seamless connectivity as they receive their new tablets.
This initiative represents a significant step in enhancing educational resources for high-achieving students, providing them with digital tools to support their learning and academic success.
